Our Process

The first step towards recovery is awareness. This includes the awareness of addiction itself and the knowledge that addiction is recognized as a disease and is not just a lack of will power or mind over matter.

The American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) say addiction is a primary, chronic disease of brain reward, motivation, memory and related circuitry. Awareness also encompasses the recognition of a problem, in yourself or others, and when drug, alcohol or behavioral abuse has developed into a full-blown addiction.

Symptoms to look out for and signs of use are available on our website or you can call us for more information. ASAM also say that without the active participation in a recovery-based program, addiction can result in disability or premature death. So if you or someone you care about has an issue with addiction it is time to contact our recovery centers and start the process of enrolling for treatment.

Once you have made the important decision to enter a treatment program our individualized care plan will begin with a comprehensive evaluation of your physical and mental well being.

These assessments allow our highly trained staff members to design a customized treatment program to suit your personal needs. Our tailored plans are based on numerous factors including your history with addiction and your drug, or drugs, of choice, your medical and family history, your neuro-cognitive status and any existing co-occurring disorders.

Now, if there is a need for medications to help reduce or eliminate any symptoms of withdrawal, our nurses help facilitate client and physician interaction so our physicians can deem what is medically necessary. We are able to address these issues on a one-on-one basis to ensure your treatment will be as effective as possible and you can start to build a foundation for a safe, successful recovery.

There are a number of treatment options available and an accurate assessment by our addiction specialists will allow us to identify the best option for you, your lifestyle and your recovery goals.

Depending on what drugs there are in a person’s system they may require a detoxification process, or “detox.” Clinical Detox has the highest level of around-the-clock care and involves consistent monitoring of the withdrawal process by trained and experienced professionals to ensure the body safely heals from chemical dependency. During this process, which typically lasts 5-7 days, our clinical team provide 24/7 supervision for safe withdrawal as substances slowly exit the body. Any medical issues that need to be addressed are taken care of in a safe and supportive environment.

At Dimensions Recovery Centers we recognize that addiction affects and includes the entire family as well as the loved ones of our clients. We believe that addiction can affect each family member at the same level as it does the individual addict, but it does so in a different way. That is why we work hard to treat the whole family system, to make sure that the problem is treated holistically and comprehensively. We use educational and therapeutic methods to assess and grow these important relationships that may have been damaged in the past, rather than leveling blame or leaving blind spots open that could cause a relapse down the line.

Severe or long-term addiction cases most frequently necessitate residential care, also known as in-patient rehabilitation. The majority of experts assert that in-patient rehab is the most likely program of care to help individuals maintain a long-term recovery. In-patient rehab is often more helpful as it requires the individual to stay in treatment for the necessary amount of time to affect positive change. Clients enter a Dimensions Recovery Center’s in-patient treatment program once they are clinically cleared and all of their physical withdrawal symptoms have been stabilized. Residential clients at all of our retreats are monitored around-the-clock for their own safety in a supportive and comfortable environment with many first-rate amenities available for their use.

Intensive Outpatient or IOP addiction treatment is a part-time yet intensive program. Clients who enter our IOP program are not in detox and are able to have access to the outside community. If scheduling permits they are able to continue their employment as well as other personal obligations, so this is a way to get clean without a significant impact on daily life as opposed to an in-patient program. The focus of Dimensions Recovery Centers IOP is to help individuals back into society in a safe supportive way while we further collaborate with them on developing aftercare plans and preparing them for the next step in their recovery.

Outpatient programs are the least restrictive treatment plans available and are a way for clients to take control of their lives when they do not have a severe addiction that requires detox or intensive therapy. They may have a behavioral addiction, or a regular habit that is not as serious or may not have been addicted to a substance for long. After assessment by our highly trained clinical team, it may be deemed to be the best fit for them. An outpatient program means that they can still continue with their lives and jobs almost as normal but with the safe and secure knowledge that they have the support they need and if they do require any further levels of treatment.

Partial Hospitalization at Dimensions Recovery Centers provides a client with professional structured addiction treatment programs. Clients who participate in partial hospitalization have a customized treatment plan designed specifically for them by our team of experts according to their unique needs. This may consist of daily programming, regular group therapy, and/or weekly individual therapy sessions. The purpose of a Partial Hospitalization program is to assist clients to confidently shift away from clinical around-the-clock supervision so that they can seamlessly enter back in to society with a solid foundation for sobriety and the tools and coping mechanisms in place to stay clean and sober.

A very important and sometimes delicate stage in a person’s journey to long-lasting sobriety is the time period immediately after completion of their treatment program. Once discharged from the safe and secure environment of the recovery center, readjusting to everyday life can be difficult and stressful. But, with a strong continuing aftercare plan, relapsing back into old patterns within the first few months post-treatment can be kept at bay and with the correct support and the right techniques learned in treatment, the “real world” will be a place where a person can begin to thrive rather than be afraid or stressed out. We make sure you have all the support you need once your treatment program is completed and are 100% committed to your ongoing recovery.

Before you can begin a program of addiction therapy and benefit from our other services it is important that you are mentally and physically “stabilized.” Many of our clients arrive at our facilities while still under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Stabilization is the process in which we help them move forward from acute intoxication and withdrawal to a stable, substance-free state. Our specialized staff will ensure this process occurs as safely and as comfortably as possible. At this point we will work diligently to determine the most effective way to achieve stabilization and find the course of detox to best suit your circumstances. Our approach is grounded in evidence-based therapies and clinical and behavioral assessments which allow us to help ease you through this important stage in the process.

Detox / Rehab

Detoxification is an essential part of the addiction treatment process. It is the physical process of flushing the substances and toxins left in your body from using drugs or abusing alcohol.

If monitored effectively it allows the body to rid itself of a drug while safely managing the often-uncomfortable symptoms of withdrawal. Without detox, toxins may remain in the body and continue to cause cravings, emotional and psychological distress, medical issues and other complications. This is why it can be so hard and in fact dangerous to quit a drug ‘cold turkey.’ Withdrawal can cause significant health complications.

To manage withdrawal without danger the detox process should take place with professional guidance at a drug detox and addiction recovery center. Substance abuse and addiction cause changes in the body’s biochemistry, which is exactly why it takes time, professional supervision, and an individualized treatment program to recover and restore equilibrium.

Once a treatment plan has been completed and if necessary the transition from In-patient to outpatient has taken place it is time for you to leave our facility. This can be a daunting prospect, one where relapse may seem inevitable if old habits reform and behavioral patterns reemerge.

Help is always on hand to prevent this from happening. It is our mission to maintain open channels of communication and provide you with a proven system of aftercare and community support to avoid relapse and give you the best chance of a sustainable, long lasting recovery. We understand that recovery from addiction is ongoing.

There is no simple cure for addiction and that is why we continue to offer care and support whether you are staying at our facilities or are out in the world. We want you to achieve a happier, healthier lifestyle free from addiction and drug abuse and we are here for you every step of the way.
