Medical Marijuana and the Law

December 22nd, 2016

With the widespread shift being seen within the borders of the United States as it pertains to marijuana, one may think this opens the doors for teenagers to abuse the drug. There are states such as Florida, and Arkansas which have legalized the use of the drug for medical purposes, with states such as California, Washington, and Massachusetts legalizing recreational use by adults.
One thing to keep in mind, is that these state laws do not reflect the views of the federal government. Though legal in its varying capacity within specific state borders, it is still a federal crime to use the drug, and as such, may still face consequences.

Nonetheless, judicial punishment aside, no one, teenagers especially, should see it fit to abuse this plant. Legislature aside, it is still classified as a Schedule I drug by the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA). To be forewarned, is to be forearmed. Take heed
